Private and Group Voice Lessons with Matt Belliston

Belliston Music Studio is founded on the idea that well-rounded musicians are the most successful.  Equal emphasis should be placed on vocal technique, ear training, musicianship, and theory skills.  In an effort to create a well-rounded outcome, and to be cost-effective for families, Belliston Music Studio offers group, semi-private, and private lessons as developmentally appropriate.

Students will be taught by Matt Belliston, MM.  He attended the University of Utah and earned a degree in Vocal Music Education, and then studied at Carnegie Mellon University, where he hearned a Master's in Music Education with a Vocal Emphasis.  He studied under Carol Ann Allred, Brady Allred, Richard Teaster, and Thomas Douglas.  Matt understands that vulnerability and courage is needed to improve the vocal instrument, and tries to create a comfortable, safe lesson setting, where students are able to learn.  Students are expected to come to each lesson prepared, practicing 10-30 minutes, 5 days per week.  Parents of students are expected to help their children remember to practice, and report practice successes and struggles during the week, so Matt can be most prepared to help the children in lessons.

Children's voices are not be mature enough to handle intense vocal training until 11 or 12 years old (usually when they go through puberty), a vocalist can begin to learn healthy singing techniques and music much sooner.  Here are curricula we recommend for the following ages:
